Every AA group that voluntarily chooses to elect an intergroup representative (and an alternate representative)in District 17 of Area 29 becomes an active member of Western Maryland Intergroup upon attending monthly group meetings (Tradition IV). In order to serve as an AA group representative, all one has to do is choose a home group (Tradition III), participate in the group's group conscience meetings (Tradition II), and volunteer to serve as the home group representative when the position becomes available. The home group members will take a vote to decide (Traditions I & II). In order to serve, a member's home group usually requires representatives to have a certain amount of sobriety. In order to serve as an officer in Intergroup, a representative must have at least a year of sobriety according to Western Maryland Intergroup's By-laws.

Come join us as we help others in order to help ourselves to recover from alcoholism.
